Lagos Expands Sales Points for Lake Rice

As the Lagos-Kebbi, Lake Rice becomes more popular amongst Nigerians Resident in Lagos, government is expanding outlets where the commodity can now be purchased.

Announcing new sales outlets, Commissioner for Agriculture, Oluwatoyin Suarau named Farmers Mart, Ajah and Farm Service Centre, Temu-Epe as designated points where the commodity can now be purchased with ease.

Suarau while  reviewing reports and feelers from designated centres noted that the two additional centres; Farmers Mart, Ajah and Farm Service Centre, Temu-Epe are needed to complement the activities of other centres in ensuring that LAKE Rice is available and accessible across the State.

According to him, “Other already existing designated sale centres are the secretariat of the 57 local government and local council development areas of Lagos, Farm Service Centre Odogunyan-Ikorodu; Farmers Mart Surulere; Agric Input Supply Authority (LAISA) Ojo; Agricultural Development Authority (ADA) Oko Oba, Agege and Lagos Television (LTV) Complex, Agidingbi-Ikeja”.

Adding that the need to ensure that Lake Rice circulate into  the nooks and crannies of Lagos is key in the State government’s drive to attain food sufficiency stressing that food production and self-sufficiency have been given priority attention at State’s policy and strategic levels.

The Commissioner also noted that the price of the rice has not changed from N12,000 for 50kg and N6,000 for the 25kg and stressed that State government will continue to maintain the price of the product to make it affordable citizens.

Suarau promised that necessary logistics have been put in place by government  to ensure a hassle free purchase of the product in an atmosphere devoid of rancour during coming Christmas season at all approved sales centres with processes of purchase made a lot more easier.
