Goshen Home & Orphanage Opens in Akute, Ogun State

IT WAS indeed a moment filled with awesome emotions for Mrs. Aramide Oikelome, an accomplished and award wining Journalist when her dream of owning a Orphanage for the less privileged in the society became a reality last weekend.

For Oikelome, “Goshen Home and Orphanage is the fulfillment of a dream and vision which God gave me precisely on June 6, 2014 during my Church’s annual women’s conference.

“It was a fasting and praying programme and while the prayer was going on, I heard the voice of the Lord say to me:

“Daughter, I want you to set up an Orphanage. It is going to be a choice home where destiny children will be nurtured. I will cause it to flourish and it will be a fountain from where many lives will be nourished. Let it be within Akute-Olambe, I will cause many churches to adopt it and sow into it”.

According to Oikelome, “When the message came, I laughed because I didn’t have a dime. The NGO we were running had a lot of challenges with paying School fees and caring for th eorphans and vulnerable children under our care

“We couldn’t afford a lot of things then; so I didn’t see how I would rent and furnish a place for orphanage. So, I told the Lord that if truly this was from Him, then He should speak to my husband to support it.

“It was the test or confirmation I needed most; so I didnt tell him immediately, but the day I did, he was all out for it and asked me to go look for a place”, said Oikelome.

The Search, Trial and Miracle:

Oikelome told Healthstyleplus Online, “We then went on to search for a place to use for the orphanage, but could not get any suitable place. It was in the process that I lost my dad on August 3, 2014. I was devastated and forgot all about the orphanage.

Then on December 6, 2014 a miracle happened that blew my mind. Someone came to donate a piece of land to us and said, God told him to give it for an orphanage. And at the partners dinner that month we were able to raise some funds and on January 24, 2015, the foundation of the orphanage was laid and that was when the building commenced. It was tough but God proved Himself that this was His project and like they say, the rest is now history”

In his word of exhortation, General Overseer, New Testament Assembly, Pastor Samson Bamgbayan reading from Psalm 34: 1-8, submitted that whatever God has a hand in “Is always of delightful taste”.

He saluted the courage of Mrs. Oikelome in obeying the instructions of the Lord, trusting in His judgement to give an expected and deserving end and not allow trials to discourage her.

Bamigbayan prayed that the Home shall fulfill the mission of God to humanity and through the Home, as many children that would be raised shall become the blessings of the nation.

In his own remark, Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina urged well-to-do Nigerians to continue to be their brothers keeper by attending to the needs of the less privileged in the society.

He noted that government is not unmindful of the effects of the current economic hardship which Nigerians are passing through but pleaded, “This hard times should really not be taken as the reason for young people to embrace crime or illegalities rather, it is a time that should challenge all of us to think more out of the box on what positive things can be done to reverse the trend”.

Adesina believes, “If everyone would embark on positive ventures such as what Mrs. Oikelome has done, the society would certainly be better for a future assured”.
