There is no doubt that in recent times a lot of Nigerians are going through various forms of challenges particularly as the nation’s economy is on the recess.
Consequently, medical experts have been expressing fear over the rising profile of mentally unstable persons in the society.
It is as a result of this that members of the Health Writers Association of nigeria (HEWAN) have lined up experts in various areas of health to discuss some of the most prevailing challenges and profer ways on how nigerians can cope and, or overcome some of the challenges thrown up by the economic situation in the country.
The 7th annual HEWAN Symposium focusing attention on “Mental Health in A Recessed Economy” is therefore expected to hold on Friday at the Surgical Skills Centre of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, (LUTH) with the Acting Medical Director of the Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Yaba, Dr. Richard Adebayo delivering the Guest Lecture.
Other distingushed speakers at the occasion are: the Chief Executive Officer, National Centre for Disease Control (CEO/NCDC), Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu who is expected to speak on “Disease Outbreaks: The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) Experience”
Director General, Natioanl Agency for Control of HIV/AIDS (NACA), Dr Sani Aliyu will be speaking on: “The Burden of HIV/AIDS in Nigeria”
Chief Host of th eoccasion is the Chief Medical Director of LUTH, Prof Chris Bode while Lagos State Commissioner for Health Dr Olajide Idris is the Special Guest of the day.
