Following the death of two students of the prestigious Queens College, Yaba, Lagos from a yet to be disclosed cause, management of the School has postponed the resumption of the students from the mid-term break by a week.
In a text message which was sent to parents of the School, the management explained that the postponement was an instruction from the Federal Ministry of Education.
The message reads thus;
“This is to inform you that the ministry has extended the mid-term break by one week. The students will be coming back on Sunday 5th March 2017.Parents are advised to take their wards for medical check up before coming back to School especially for fever”.
The School went on mid-term break last Wednesday and boarding Students were expected to return to the hostel Sunday, while classes was to resume, Monday, February 27.but this is not to be followin the reported death of two students as a result of reported unhygienic conditions of the School facilities.
Healthstyleplu Online exclusively reported that a vising panel from the Ministry of Education had reportedly indicted School Management of poor sanitary condition and poor water sources which is presumed responsible for gastrointestinal infections among some of the students in recent weeks.
A distress call to the Minister of Health, Professoe Isaac Adewole last Thursday, precipitated the visit of the Minister to the School and his subsequent setting up of an investigation panel to unravel the reote and immediate cause of death ana to critically inspect the sanitary condition of the School facilities.
The panel was given a week to report abck to the Minister of Education mallam Adamu Adamu and the report is expected in by the end of the week.
