IT WAS AN  EVENING of emotional outpour and comfort for ten widows when each was called to receive a token sum from leading celebrity Blogger and acting President, Guild of Professional Blogger of Nigeria, GPBN, Chris Kehinde Nwandu, who is also the CEO, CKN Foundation.

Each of the widows went home with the token of love from CKN Foundation to help cushion the effects of present economic recession on their families.

The event which is the third in the annual series according to Nwandu, “is simply a part of our corporate social responsibility to lend a helping hand to the needy in the society and to encourage them that hope is not lost”.

The women who were not aware of their nominations for the Christmas benevolence until some hours to the presentation were full of glee when Nwandu, handed to each of them an envelope containing the sum of money.

On hand to encourage the widows to be wise in the use of the token were President Joyful Widows Fellowship, Mrs. Aramide Oikelome, Managing Director/ Editor In-Chief, Union Newspapers, Casmir Igbokwe and his wife as well as Mrs Nelly Agwu of Nelly Agwu.blogspot.com

The widows expressed their joy and surprises at the gesture and each took turns to express gratitude to the Foundation for the kind gesture showed on them.

Almost all the widows noted it was the first time such a gift was coming to them after the death of their husbands.

Some of the widows were picked from Umungwa Obowo Pogressive Union Lagos State Branch, Grace CIIFEK Initiatives and Joyful Widows Fellowship.
