Family, Colleagues Honour Aramide Oikelome 54th Posthumous Birthday

Family, Colleagues are gathering to honour Aramide Oikelome’s 54th Posthumous Birthday today.

It was her plan to celebrate her 54th birthday with her numerous children in the Bestspring Children and Youth Development Foundation, Goshen Home & Orphanage and with the Girls Arise Initiative good will with widows as well as her award winning project in Just4Rubies (www.justforrubies.com) today, November 28, 2020.

She had wished to put the several plights of Orphans but Vulnerable Children on the front burner for all to help on her birthday. She always did, and was known for all these very engaging humanitarian works in addition to her Spirit filled-life.

Through Girls’ Arise Initiative for instance, she inspired and supports girls to acquire good education and build life skills in spite of financial hardship and cultural barriers. She believed that girls should be resilient in pursuing a great career/leadership opportunity despite all odds.

 

By extension, she also ran an Adolescent Mothers Club to bring healing to pregnant girls, teenage mothers/out of school girls and builds a strong support system for them by giving them a second chance to rebuild their lives through education and economic empowerment.

But, God knew best what today, would be like ahead of the plans. Aramide Praise Oikelome would have been 54 years old today and would have been so elated and glad to launch the Aramide Global Girls Arise Initiative (AGGAI) as a fulfilment of her dream to put a seal on her numerous works but the sun set that day, June 19, 2020.

In her honour and to help fulfil the lofty dreams, Family, loved ones, colleagues and Associates would gather to make areality of AGGAI.

The posthumous program will hold at the Father’s House Church, 90, Ajayi Farm, Akute by 9am with music ministrations and performances, Tributes and the unveiling of AGGAI.

The General Overseer of The Father’s House, Rev Richard Udoh, will lead other men and women of God to honour the legacy of Aramide.

 

Some other personalities expected to grace the event include Pastor (Mrs.) Nike Lamai; Tony Ademuyiwa/Biodun Adebiyi; Girls Arise Team; Funmi Sax; Goshen Children Choir; ministers from Men of Purpose Ministry; Best spring Board of Trustees; Best Spring Choir, Pat Uwaje King among several others.

Some of her former colleagues in the media world including, Independent Newspapers Limited where she co-founded the Independent Christian Fellowship, Journalists for Christ led by President, Lekan Otufodunrin and hosts of others are expected to show solidarity towards birthing the Initiative which is meant to support all the projects left behind especially the education and welfare of the Orphans.

Aramide worked as the Head of the Religious Desk in Daily Independent Newspapers till 2015 where she won several awards and Fellowships across the Globe. When she left Independent Newspapers in 2015, she founded her Blogg- Just4Rubies and ran this till death came calling. She was an active member of the Guild of Professional Bloggers of Nigeria (GPBN) until death.

As Girls’ Right Advocate, Aramide Oikelome was at the forefront of the vanguard to safeguard the girl-child against all forms of abuse and provided a safe space for her to conquer all obstacles and maximize her potentials. She promoted advocacy against early child marriage, child-labour, rape, human trafficking and other forms of exploitation that tend to keep the girl-child down and out.

 

Indeed, Aramide Oikelome was a woman of many parts- a Wife, Mother, Sister, Friend, Journalist, Public Speaker, Counselor, Child’s Rights Advocate, Girls’ Right Advocate, Care-giver, Philanthropist, Social Entrepreneur and much more.
