Federal High Court Osogbo, Osun State has turned down the bail application by dismissed Professor of Accountancy, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife enmeshed in sex-for-mark case and scandal over insufficient evidence to back claims.
Represented by six Counsels before Justice Maureen Oyetenu, Professor Akindele through his defence counsel, Francis Omotosho had prayed the court to grant him bail to leave prison custody and attend trial from home.
Counsel to Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) Afolabi Oluwatoyin provided a counter affidavit to oppose the bail application.
Justice Oyetenu in turning down the bail application for the sex-for-mark case, noted that the facts of the counter affidavit deposed by the ICPC counsel were quite weighty and therefore asked the prosecution to produce evidence to back up the claims at next adjourned sitting.
She then ordered the defendant, Professor Akindele, to be remanded in Ilesa Prison until December 17 the next adjourned date when hearing continues in his bail application.
