Vision and Mission

Award Winning Managing Editor, Yinka Shokunbi

In creating this medium, the vision is an audience that is empowered and healthy because it is informed.

The mission, therefore, is to cover health and lifestyle in a robust way, and provide my audience with unique and empowering information.

Just about everybody today knows that health is the condition of a person’s body or mind – the state of being physically and mentally healthy. And, of course, the World Health Organisation (WHO) defines health as “a state of complete physical, mental, and social wellbeing, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.”

In other words, health is the totality of a man’s physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional being; Indeed, his entire condition. It is described as a dynamic condition resulting from a body’s constant adjustments and adaptations in response to stresses and changes in the environment where man finds himself, and all in a bid to attain homeostasis, a state of personal equilibrium.

The health of a people or nation is measured by the WHO through certain indicators such as life expectancy, maternal and infant mortality/morbidity, nutrition and social life, as well as mental and environmental health.

All of the foregoing are the foundation of Healthstyleplus Online; they are also at its heart because reporting about health in the media has been a way to help people and government understand the need to have and achieve good health. The media, are both a bridge and a mirror to the society. Healthstyleplus Online is no less.

Healthstyleplus Online is a unique health blog which seeks to give health reporting a broad and practical perspective. It will cover everything—from Paediatrics to Geriatrics; from the cradle to the… well, before the grave.

Key areas that Healthstyleplus Online will focus on include Parenting, Reproductive Health, Life Styles, General Health, Drugs, Food and Nutrition, Beverages, Healthrelated breakthroughs and much more. For all of these, Award winning Healthstyleplus Online is the place to be.

Congratulations Ma. This is interesting and I rejoice with you for this breakthrough. It is my desire and prayer to see the blog expand and nourish the public and stimulate governments at the centre, state and local government into action concerning health care delivery.

When you were with the Daily Independent Newspapers, I was one of the regular readers of your column – very educative, well-researched, thoughtful and balanced reporting. I do hope that you will maintain and upscale that standard.

Wishing you the best of God.
