Upper Room Baptist Church marks 30yrs


Activities marking 30years of the Upper Room Baptist Church, Ketu, Lagos began with series of events including the visitation to Orphanage homes to showcase the love of Christ to the less-privileged.

In a statement by chairman Anniversary Committee, Richard Adewole, also lined up to celebrate the work of the Lord I’m the Vineyard are public lecture, annual academic awards for excellence and Bible College Graduation.

Billed to speak at the public lecture is Health Minister, Professor Isaac Adewole who is expected to give a keynote on Education and Health, symbiotic relationship.

According to the General Overseer of the Church,  Pastor Oluleke Akinola, the awards for academic excellence will be bestowed on outstanding performances in the 2017 West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

Pastor  Akinola, explains that the award is part of the Church’s contribution to complement government’s effort at improving the standard of education in Lagos State.
He added that the presentation, will be in 4 categories: Students Category – Overall best three students; Teachers’ Category – Best teacher in English Language,
Mathematics, Biology and Economics; Schools Category – Overall best three schools and Principals Category – Principals of the overall best three schools.
The Award was established by the church in 2012 to annually acknowledge and reward
good performance in the Kosofe local government of the State on the basis of WASSCE results, thus supporting government effort to raise the standard of education in the
Some of the  immediate past winners of the awards include Mr A .O. Oguntade, Biology teacher in Ayedere Ajibola Senior High School, Ketu and Mr B.A. Babatunde,
an Economics teacher of the same school, received Excellence Award Winners in Teachers’ category while Mende Senior High School, Maryland and Ifako
Comprehensive Senior High School, Gbagada went home with school’s category awards.
